Evaluation of probiotic properties of lactic acid bacteria strains of human origin
The student will perform the antimicrobial activity, the antibiotic susceptibility, through the MIC assay, and the adhesion ability of lactobacilli strains of human origin.
In addition, the strains survival under GI tract condition will be perfomed in a static and dynamic way.
The student will acquire competence on the methodology to determine the MIC value of the antibiotic resistance of the strains, according to EFSA.
The student will acquire skills on the main methodology used to determine the adhesion of the strains to the intestinal mucus
Meeting lab will be planned every week to discuss about protocols and the obtained data. A final presentation of methodology and results will be done.
Laboratory ability and acquired skills will be evaluated after 3 months.
