Museum of Sicilian Marvels and Knowledge
Scientific coordinator: prof. Germana Barone
The Museum of Sicilian Marvels and Knowledge was created with the aim to enhance Sicilian cultural legacy and to make it public through the representation of its main assets as a result of the university's centuries-old research, teaching and educational activities.
Located on the ground floor of the university’s headquarters (Piazza Università 2), this museum gives a bit of "taste" of everything showcasing what other university’s museums do already (e.g. at the Benedictine Monastery, Botanic Garden, Museum of Zoology and Butterfly House, Villa Zingali Tetto, Bio Tower, City of Science). Certainly, there is no shortage of collections, examples of historical and cultural heritage, of research tradition, portraits of UNICT’s great personalities, ceramics, archaeological finds, ancient texts and documents, such as eighteenth-century degree parchments; skulls, skeletons and anatomical finds, ancient microscopes, measuring instruments, tables and projects by illustrious Sicilian architects, minerals, insects, seeds of typical Sicilian biodiversity, stuffed animals and more.
