Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering
The Department of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering was established in January 2011 by joining together two earlier Departments with a long cultural tradition of the Faculty of Engineering, namely Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica, Elettronica e dei Sistemi (Dept. of Electrical, Electronics and Systems Engineering, DIEES) and Dipartimento di Ingegneria Informatica e delle Telecomunicazioni (Dept. of Computer Engineering and Telecommunications, DIIT).
Its 60 faculty members, include full, associate and assistant professors whose expertise covers several topics related to industrial and information engineering in research and teaching areas, such as: Electrical Energy and Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Converters and Drives, Microelectronics, Electromagnetic Fields, Telecommunications, Control Systems, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Electrical and Electronic Measurements.
All members are actively involved in several international projects and maintain active collaborations with several scientific and industrial companies and research laboratories all around the world.
Teaching
The Department offers undergraduate degrees (three-years courses: Computer Engineering and Electronics Engineering) and graduate degrees (two-years courses: Automation Engineering and Control of Complex Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering) in the core areas of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering.
In addition, some PhD schools are supported covering industrial, electronics and information areas.
DIEEI supports several Erasmus agreements and every years hosts many students coming from several European countries.
Research
Research topics which DIEEI faculty members are involved in cover Industrial, Electronics and Information Engineering. The Department is actively involved in several national and international research projects.
Our 60 faculty members attract increasing amount of research fundings.
Valuable publications are issued and patents are obtained every years as a results of an oustanding research activity.
DIEEI facilities for research and teaching include several laboratories (Electrical Energy and Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Converters and Drives, Microelectronics, Electromagnetic Fields, Telecommunications, Control Systems, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Electrical and Electronic Measurements), all equipped with modern equipments and advanced computing infrastructures.
