Abstract
The general objective of the research project is to develop a prototype of a product based on a PEA derivative, to be used to counteract persistent inflammatory processes and neuroinflammation associated with chronic pain. It is a natural molecule, inhibitor and modulator of the NAAA (N-acylethanolamine-hydrolyzing acid amidase) enzyme, as well as an endogenous regulator of the endocannabinoid system.
The molecule, protected by an Epitech patent and with co-authors belonging to the University of Messina, is experimentally able to counteract the inflammatory processes associated with painful states and to antagonize neuroinflammation. In terms of social impact, the general objective of the project responds to the urgent need to have innovative tools to combat persistent inflammation and pain with greater effectiveness than available pharmacological therapies and with better safety profiles.
